Position Description:
You will be an experienced professional with expert knowledge in fire safety, capable of commercially translating your expertise to institutional clients to deliver viable solutions that achieve statutory compliance and stakeholder assurance.
You will lead a team, managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously for key clients. The role requires the ability to work within set timelines and provide regular client updates. While no design work is typically involved, a robust understanding is necessary to challenge solutions and apply institutional rigour.
Success in this role will rely on your ability to understand the client brief and deliver on their expectations. Staff management and adherence to targets will be essential, and you will be expected to suggest and implement service line improvements through new initiatives, procedures, and structural changes (subject to consultation and approval).
Clients will depend on your professional advice. You will manage and interpret third-party reports, including fire safety assessments, surveys of external wall construction, fire door and compartmentation surveys, technical due diligence, and defect diagnosis. The ability to analyse complex scenarios, assess risks, and design effective fire safety measures is crucial.
Other responsibilities include:
- Regular reporting to the Building Surveying Executive Committee and senior management.
- Client reporting and attending client meetings.
- Business planning related to your service line.
- Liaising with property management colleagues to provide commercial and strategic advice.
- Contributing to business development and the expansion of service lines.
Key Role Requirements:
- You will be in direct communication with institutional fund management clients, landlords, and consultants.
- Leadership of a team of experienced professionals to deliver best-in-class service.
- Strong management and operational awareness are necessary.
About the Role:
You will be part of an experienced Building Consultancy team and lead the newly established Fire Advisory specialism. This will involve delivering a wide range of professional services, technical due diligence, and advice during rectification, contract, and project work.
A proactive, practical, and positive approach to work is required. Professional communication skills and the ability to build a strong reputation with clients are essential.
You will be an MRICS or FRICS chartered surveyor. Qualifications in Fire Safety, Building Control, or other Health & Safety areas are desirable. Previous experience in fire safety for commercial and/or residential property in a similar consultancy or public sector role is required.
