Lead Fire Engineer - London - Construction Consultancy
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Fire Engineer to join our London-based team at a global consultancy firm. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of technical knowledge in fire engineering and have demonstrable experience with PAS 9980 assessments, technical fire safety assessments up to RIBA Stage 3, and fire risk assessments. In addition to delivering technical expertise, the successful candidate will also be responsible for growing and leading a team of fire engineers as part of our expanding operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- PAS 9980 Assessments:
- Perform and manage external wall system assessments in line with PAS 9980 standards.
- Provide professional advice and clear guidance to clients based on PAS 9980 assessments.
- Technical Assessments (RIBA Stages 1-3):
- Deliver technical fire safety design advice and support for projects up to RIBA Stage 3.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, and other stakeholders during the design and planning phases.
- Ensure all fire safety designs comply with relevant legislation, codes, and best practices.
- Fire Risk Assessment Reporting:
- Carry out and/or review comprehensive fire risk assessments.
- Provide recommendations to clients for remedial actions or improvements based on risk assessment outcomes.
-Onsite Technical Advice:
- Offer on-site support, attending project meetings, and providing real-time fire safety advice.
- Assist project managers and construction teams in the implementation of fire safety measures.
Team Leadership and Growth:
- Lead and grow the fire engineering team, providing mentoring and support for junior team members.
- Assist in the recruitment and development of new team members, building a robust and capable fire engineering division.
Client Engagement:
- Liaise with clients, providing clear communication and updates on fire safety assessments, designs, and reports.
- Build strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for fire safety engineering matters.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in fire safety engineering, with a focus on technical assessments and fire risk reports.
- Ideally you will have a proven experience with PAS 9980 assessments and knowledge of relevant fire safety regulations.
- Strong understanding of RIBA Stages 1-3 and fire safety design integration during early project stages.
- Experience with producing and reviewing detailed fire risk assessment reports
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients and stakeholders.
-Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, with a focus on team growth and development.
Desirable Skills:
- Membership of relevant professional bodies such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or equivalent.
- Experience in conducting external wall fire reviews.
- Project management experience and familiarity with large-scale, complex projects.
