The Role: 

We are looking for a Building Surveyor to join a growing team in Reigate. This is a busy and varied role providing support to the Surveying team on a wide range of projects, including insurance work, primarily residential and commercial buildings across all forms of construction. The Building Surveyor will assist their Line Manager, handle projects within their level of authority, and provide training and guidance to junior team members.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate ambition, drive, and passion for customer service while delivering quality results. Professionalism and strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and advise on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites

  • Conduct acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys, and defect investigations

  • Prepare reports, schedules of work, and specifications

  • Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts to current technical standards

  • Apply relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations, and planning

  • Promote services and secure new projects

  • Comply with the company’s administrative, personnel, and health & safety regulations

Candidate Profile:

  • BSc (Hons) in a relevant field

  • Experience in consulting engineering, surveying, architectural, and planning practices, with a solid understanding of current statutory requirements and technical publications

  • Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing

  • Preferred experience in insurance repair projects

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work within budget on large-scale projects

  • Knowledge of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall, and Building Regulation legislation

  • Strong mathematical, scientific, and IT skills, with a methodical problem-solving approach

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
