About the Role:
 
We are seeking an ambitious and driven Director of Building Surveying to lead and establish a new service line within a dynamic and growing consultancy. This is a unique opportunity for a senior-level professional with a strong background in both service delivery and business development, who is looking for the autonomy to build and scale their own team within a highly supportive and ambitious partnership.
 
The consultancy was formed in 2022 and has rapidly grown into a team of 10, operating from a brand-new office in Clifton. With over five years of projects in the pipeline and working on schemes upwards of £150m, the business is well-positioned for significant expansion. The goal is to grow to a team of 20 within the next two years, making this an incredibly exciting time to get involved.
 
The consultancy has a strong reputation for delivering cost management services across commercial, hotel, Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Build-to-Rent (BTR), and industrial sectors. With a track record of successfully managing and delivering high-profile projects, the business is now looking to expand its service offering to include a fully integrated Building Surveying and Project Management division.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and lead the Building Surveying service line, developing strategic direction and growth plans.
  • Provide expert advice on all aspects of building surveying, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Develop and nurture key client relationships, actively engaging in business development to grow the pipeline of work.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of building surveyors and project managers.
  • Work collaboratively with existing teams across cost management and project delivery to offer integrated solutions to clients.
  • Lead on technical due diligence, dilapidations, defect analysis, party wall matters, planned maintenance, and project management.
  • Oversee financial performance, ensuring profitability and growth of the service line.
  • Drive innovation and best practices within the division to enhance service delivery.
Key Requirements:
  • Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with extensive industry experience.
  • Strong track record in business development, client relationship management, and team leadership.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality technical building surveying services.
  • Experience across commercial, hospitality, residential, and industrial sectors.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growing a business unit from the ground up.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to lead a profitable service line.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
